Whilst they are only one component of aquatic ecosystems, fish are obviously very important from a recreational and commercial perspective, as well as their contribution to the ecology of the system. Properly assessing fish communities is more challenging than surveying many other organisms, because fish are more mobile and may be seasonal in their presence. To overcome some of these challenges, Aquateco typically performs surveys using a range of different techniques, including electrofishing, various netting and trapping techniques and habitat based assessments.
